Hello my beauties, I hope you are all doing so well! I know I know… I literally have been MIA! Where the hell have I been might you ask? I have been super super busy with school work and my exams as well. I probably will not be blogging for a little bit after this because I am headed away to Mexico, but I will for sure upload a blog about my trip! I have been nonstop writing papers out of my bum and can finally say ” I do not have to write another essay ever again”.. thank god for that! I have also been busy with my new apartment and rearranging everything in there so there’s that. I will for sure be uploading an apartment tour later on when I am finish decorating and what not since I pretty much just started! Hmmmm what else is new? OH! I cut my hair, yes I did. I was sitting infront of my tv one day watching 90210 when I just thought how bored I was of my hair and how I really wanted a change pronto. So me being my spontaneous self I decided to chop off my own hair…. and well…. it actually turned out really well, I was impressed with my hidden talent! Enough about my personal life and more about my blogging life! So I decided that I have not really done a makeup tutorial in a really long time and thought I might as well upload one for a change ! Since Spring is here I wanted to show you guys my everyday Spring makeup look that I have been really loving lately! I also wanted to show you guys how to achieve a nighttime look from this daytime look as well, without having to remove any of your previous makeup. Without further or do let’s get started!
First, you want to make sure you are starting off with a freshly clean face. I have been currently using “Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser” everytime I wake up and I use it before I go to bed as well. I have been liking this cleanser so far, but it is one where it does not feel like all your makeup is fully off of your face, so I often have to go in with another cleanser in order to feel “clean”. You then want to go in with your moisturizer before applying any of your makeup.
I next like to go in with my face primer and have been loving my “Benefit Hangover Face Primer”, which I have used in previous blogs before. I find this primer is very moisturizing and smells amazing which is a huge bonus! You can purchase this at Sephora for $40.00 which is pretty expensive but I really do think it is worth it.
I apply my foundation all over my face with my lovely beauty blender. I rave about this thing all the time but I literally swear on it and have not gone back to a face brush since I started using it.
The foundation that I have been using daily for quite some years now is the “Revlon Colourstay in Buff” Foundation. I find that this foundation stays on my face all day and overall has an amazing full coverage.
It all depends on your personal preference what products you like to apply first on your face but when it comes down to my makeup routine, I always apply my whole face leaving the highlighting and contouring til after my eye makeup is complete. When I let my foundation dry for a few minutes, I like to go in and set it with my MAC Studio Fix powder which is my ultimate favourite. I have been using this product for two years now and it is my go-to for sure.
I apply the powder all over my face with one of my big fluffy brushes. I make sure that I have applied this everywhere where I placed the foundation on my face.
As you can see I have used this product numerous times and I will not be stopping anytime soon! I love to use the “Kat Von D High Voltage Eye Primer” on my eyelids to ensure my eyeshadow stays in place all day long. I highly highly recommend trying this product out for yourself. I love how yellow the pigment is when you apply it to your lids, and it makes your eye shadow appear flawless. You can purchase this at Sephora for $20.00.
I then like to go in and start filling out my eyebrows. I always use my “Anastasia Dip Brow” when filling in the spaces within my brows, and this product literally stays on all day with no smudging or coming off. I highly recommend trying this out for yourself and making sure you have an angled brush to go with it. You can purchase it at Sephora for $23.00.
I have recently started using this palette that I purchased a while ago from Sephora, it is called ” Smashbox Full Exposure”. When I first purchased it, I was not in love with it and really did not know what looks to create with some of the colours. I found that it was not really pigmented, but I recently started using it again with my Kat Von D Primer. I am extremely happy with the results when I use it on top of this, and have created so many wonderful looks with it! There is a bigger size palette out there of this product, but I purchased the travel size to test and try it out. You can purchase it at Sephora for $28.00.
I first like to take a blending brush and apply this peachy colour within the palette into the crease of my lids. I find this creates a nice and gentle look, and I really think this is appropriate for the spring time as well.
Once that is applied within the crease, I then like to go in with my Colour Tattoo Metal by Eye Studio in the shade “Barely Branded” and apply this all over my lid avoiding the crease where I applied the peach colour. This creates a nice metallic colour and allows the next shadow that I am going to be applying to appear “flawless” and “pigmented”. I just apply this product using my finger.
I then take my next eyeshadow colour from within my palette which is a “white” colour and apply this all over the cream eyeshadow that I just applied.
Now it is time to highlight and contour! I love to use my Nars Laguna Bronzer when it comes to day time looks as it is extremely gentle and looks more natural. I apply this to my cheekbones, my jaw line, my forehead as well as the bridge of my nose. You can purchase this at Sephora for $52.00, but I highly recommend it. This product has lasted me forever and I am still not done yet!
I then like to go in with my highlighter and apply this to certain areas of my face such as my forehead, under my eyes and the bridge of my nose. I absolutely love using my MAC Prolong Wear Concealer which I purchased for $26.00.
(Looking Fab!)
Next, I apply my liquid eye liner to the tops of my lids in order to help my eyes stand out more. I apply my gel liner that I purchased from Walmart by Maybelline called “Eye Studio Gel liner” and apply a thin layer on top of my eyes. I also added a wing to it as well. Based on your personal preference, you can make the wing as big & thick as you like it to be, personally I like mine more within the middle range. Some days I skip the wing process, and other days I add it in. I apply this with a liner brush that I purchased at Sephora which makes it super easy to apply the product. What also helps me to achieve a straight wing is by using a credit card or a straight edge. You can also use tape as well which makes it really easy!
After applying my liner and creating a wing I am happy with, I apply my mascara primer before applying my actual mascara. I absolutely love my Dior Maximizing Plumping Serum which I purchased at Sephora for $43.00. This product enhances my lashes allowing them to look plumper and fuller before I apply my mascara. I then let this product dry for a few minutes before applying my favourite mascara “L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara”to my lashes.
Next, I apply some finishing touches to my face such as my blush which is called “Orgasm by Nars” and apply this to the apples of my cheeks.
I then go and apply my highlighter called “Laura Mercer Highlighter” to my forehead, bridge of my nose and the top of my cheek bones.
After applying my highlighter, I then move onto my lips. I first take my beauty blender which has excess foundation on it still and dab this over my lips. This helps create a nude look and it blocks out the natural pigment of your lips for the lipstick. I apply my “Dior” Nude lipstick all over my lips keeping this look more natural as it is my everytime day time look.
(Voila!, A very natural &neutral day time look! I sometimes incorporate a wing and some days I don’t)
NIGHTTIME LOOK
Don’t you hate it when you are going out at night and have to redo all of your makeup so it looks more dramatic? Now you don’t! I have created a nighttime makeup routine going off of your previous day time look we just have created. Pull out that palette again and let’s get started!
You are now going to use this dark brown shade and apply this with a small eye shadow brush to your crease. This is going to create a super pretty shade on top of the peach colour that you already have. You can bring this colour into the outside corner of your lids as well, creating more of a smokey effect.
You are then going to take this grey shimmery shade and apply this to the outside corner of your lids. This will help darken the colour and create more of a dramatic look.
Next, when it comes to a night out of course you need some false lashes! I am using my favourite Elf lashes and applying them with my DUO glue that I purchased from Sephora for $12.00 in the darker shade. After applying my lashes I then take my favourite MAC lipstick in the shade “Snob” and apply this over the nude shade previously on my lips.
And Voila, you are now ready for the night out! I absolutely love this nighttime look and it is super easy to achieve as well! It is way easier than having to take off all of your makeup and start from scratch.
I hope you guys enjoyed this Spring day time to nighttime makeup tutorial using the SmashBox Full Exposure Palette. I highly recommend purchasing this palette for yourself and trying out these beautiful colours!
