Spring daytime to nighttime look 2016!

Spring daytime to nighttime look 2016!

Hello my beauties, I hope you are all doing so well! I know I know… I literally have been MIA! Where the hell have I been might you ask? I have been super super busy with school work and my exams as well. I probably will not be blogging for a little bit after this because I am headed away to Mexico, but I will for sure upload a blog about my trip! I have been nonstop writing papers out of my bum and can finally say ” I do not have to write another essay ever again”.. thank god for that! I have also been busy with my new apartment and rearranging everything in there so there’s that. I will for sure be uploading an apartment tour later on when I am finish decorating and what not since I pretty much just started! Hmmmm what else is new? OH! I cut my hair, yes I did. I was sitting infront of my tv one day watching 90210 when I just thought how bored I was of my hair and how I really wanted a change pronto. So me being my spontaneous self I decided to chop off my own hair…. and well…. it actually turned out really well, I was impressed with my hidden talent!  Enough about my personal life and more about my blogging life! So I decided that I have not really done a makeup tutorial in a really long time and thought I might as well upload one for a change ! Since Spring is here I wanted to show you guys my everyday Spring makeup look that I have been really loving lately! I also wanted to show you guys how to achieve a nighttime look from this daytime look as well, without having to remove any of your previous makeup. Without further or do let’s get started!

First, you want to make sure you are starting off with a freshly clean face. I have been currently using “Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser” everytime I wake up and I use it before I go to bed as well. I have been liking this cleanser so far, but it is one where it does not feel like all your makeup is fully off of your face, so I often have to go in with another cleanser in order to feel “clean”. You then want to go in with your moisturizer before applying any of your makeup.

I next like to go in with my face primer and have been loving my “Benefit Hangover Face Primer”, which I have used in previous blogs before. I find this primer is very moisturizing and smells amazing which is a huge bonus! You can purchase this at Sephora for $40.00 which is pretty expensive but I really do think it is worth it.

I apply my foundation all over my face with my lovely beauty blender. I rave about this thing all the time but I literally swear on it and have not gone back to a face brush since I started using it.

The foundation that I have been using daily for quite some years now is the “Revlon Colourstay in Buff” Foundation. I find that this foundation stays on my face all day and overall has an amazing full coverage.

It all depends on your personal preference what products you like to apply first on your face but when it comes down to my makeup routine, I always apply my whole face leaving the highlighting and contouring til after my eye makeup is complete. When I let my foundation dry for a few minutes, I like to go in and set it with my MAC Studio Fix powder which is my ultimate favourite. I have been using this product for two years now and it is my go-to for sure.

I apply the powder all over my face with one of my big fluffy brushes. I make sure that I have applied this everywhere where I placed the foundation on my face.

As you can see I have used this product numerous times and I will not be stopping anytime soon! I love to use the “Kat Von D High Voltage Eye Primer” on my eyelids to ensure my eyeshadow stays in place all day long. I highly highly recommend trying this product out for yourself. I love how yellow the pigment is when you apply it to your lids, and it makes your eye shadow appear flawless. You can purchase this at Sephora for $20.00.

I then like to go in and start filling out my eyebrows. I always use my “Anastasia Dip Brow” when filling in the spaces within my brows, and this product literally stays on all day with no smudging or coming off. I highly recommend trying this out for yourself and making sure you have an angled brush to go with it. You can purchase it at Sephora for $23.00.

I have recently started using this palette that I purchased a while ago from Sephora, it is called ” Smashbox Full Exposure”. When I first purchased it, I was not in love with it and really did not know what looks to create with some of the colours. I found that  it was not really pigmented, but I recently started using it again with my Kat Von D Primer. I am extremely happy with the results when I use it on top of this, and have created so many wonderful looks with it! There is a bigger size palette out there of this product, but I purchased the travel size to test and try it out. You can purchase it at Sephora for $28.00.

I first like to take a blending brush and apply this peachy colour within the palette into the crease of my lids. I find this creates a nice and gentle look, and I really think this is appropriate for the spring time as well.

Once that is applied within the crease, I then like to go in with my Colour Tattoo Metal by Eye Studio in the shade “Barely Branded” and apply this all over my lid avoiding the crease where I applied the peach colour. This creates a nice metallic colour and allows the next shadow that I am going to be applying to appear “flawless” and “pigmented”. I just apply this product using my finger.

I then take my next eyeshadow colour from within my palette which is a “white” colour and apply this all over the cream eyeshadow that I just applied.

Now it is time to highlight and contour! I love to use my Nars Laguna Bronzer when it comes to day time looks as it is extremely gentle and looks more natural. I apply this to my cheekbones, my jaw line, my forehead as well as the bridge of my nose. You can purchase this at Sephora for $52.00, but I highly recommend it. This product has lasted me forever and I am still not done yet!

I then like to go in with my highlighter and apply this to certain areas of my face such as my forehead, under my eyes and the bridge of my nose. I absolutely love using my  MAC Prolong Wear Concealer which I purchased for $26.00.

(Looking Fab!)

Next, I apply my liquid eye liner to the tops of my lids in order to help my eyes stand out more. I apply my gel liner that I purchased from Walmart by Maybelline called “Eye Studio Gel liner” and apply a thin layer on top of my eyes. I also added a wing to it as well. Based on your personal preference,  you can make the wing as big & thick as you like it to be, personally I like mine more within the middle range. Some days I skip the wing process, and other days I add it in.  I apply this with a liner brush that I purchased at Sephora which makes it super easy to apply the product. What also helps me to achieve a straight wing is by using a credit card or a straight edge. You can also use tape as well which makes it really easy!

After applying my liner and creating a wing I am happy with, I apply my mascara primer before applying my actual mascara. I absolutely love my Dior Maximizing Plumping Serum which I purchased at Sephora for $43.00. This product enhances my lashes allowing them to look plumper and fuller before I apply my mascara. I then let this product dry for a few minutes before applying my favourite mascara “L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara”to my lashes.

Next, I apply some finishing touches to my face such as my blush which is called “Orgasm by Nars” and apply this to the apples of my cheeks.

I then go and apply my highlighter called “Laura Mercer Highlighter” to my forehead, bridge of my nose and the top of my cheek bones.

After applying my highlighter, I then move onto my lips. I first take my beauty blender which has excess foundation on it still and dab this over my lips. This helps create a nude look and it blocks out the natural pigment of your lips for the lipstick. I apply my “Dior” Nude lipstick all over my lips keeping this look more natural as it is my everytime day time look.

(Voila!, A very natural &neutral day time look! I sometimes incorporate a wing and some days I don’t)

Don’t you hate it when you are going out at night and have to redo all of your makeup so it looks more dramatic? Now you don’t! I have created a nighttime makeup routine going off of your previous day time look we just have created. Pull out that palette again and let’s get started!

You are now going to use this dark brown shade and apply this with a small eye shadow brush to your crease. This is going to create a super pretty shade on top of the peach colour that you already have. You can bring this colour into the outside corner of your lids as well, creating more of a smokey effect.

You are then going to take this grey shimmery shade and apply this to the outside corner of your lids. This will help darken the colour and create more of a dramatic look.

Next, when it comes to a  night out of course you need some false lashes! I am using my favourite Elf lashes and applying them with my DUO glue that I purchased from Sephora for $12.00 in the darker shade. After applying my lashes I then take my favourite MAC lipstick in the shade “Snob” and apply this over the nude shade previously on my lips.

And Voila, you are now ready for the night out! I absolutely love this nighttime look and it is super easy to achieve as well! It is way easier than having to take off all of your makeup and start from scratch.

I hope you guys enjoyed this Spring day time to nighttime makeup tutorial using the SmashBox Full Exposure Palette. I highly recommend purchasing this palette for yourself and trying out these beautiful colours!

My favourite High end and Drug store lipsticks!

My favourite High end and Drug store lipsticks!

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

Hello my wonderful beauties! So I thought that I would write this blog on different shades of lipstick, since I recently just started to become more involved within this makeup application process. When I was in high school, I never really wore lipstick to be honest, I just wasn’t into it and thought it was pointless. I just started to get into the makeup application process just last year and continuing on into this year, experimenting with different shades. Going through the lipstick process can be tricky, especially if you are new to wearing this type of cosmetic. It can be extremely overwhelming trying to find the perfect shade for your skin tone and lips as well! Trust me, you need to be patient with this process, and do not become frustrated if you are having a difficult time trying to find the perfect shade.. it takes time. Do not be afraid when going to different cosmetic stores such as MAC or Sephora ,to ask for some help or advice when shopping. Their job is to help you, so use their expertise and knowledge! I came up with a few of my favourite lipsticks and decided to try them all on for you, to help you see the colour strictly on a pair of lips! I do not have a lot of lipsticks as my collection is still growing, but I hope some of these shades help you beauties out!

This is one of the first lipsticks that I have purchased from MAC,and it is one of my favourites. This has a more pink shade to it, but I found that it’s still wearable to wear in the day time as opposed to strictly at night time. You can purchase this at any MAC cosmetics store for $20.00. I find that this lipstick quality is amazing, and it lasts a long time as well. This lipstick is in the shade “Pink Plaid”.

The next lipstick that I would highly recommend purchasing is called ‘Velvet Teddy” by MAC as well. This has a nice brown/neutral shade to it, that is perfect for the fall/winter weather. I absolutely am in love with this shade, and I find that it goes perfectly well with any outfit that I am wearing. You can purchase this at any MAC cosmetics store for $20.00.

The next lipstick that I absolutely love for “night-outs” is called Snob by MAC cosmetics. I can not emphasize how much I love this lipstick. It has a really pretty “Barbie” pink to it, that just screams attention…but I love it. Although this is a really bright lipstick, I do find it acceptable with the right outfit to wear this during the day. However, I usually try to stick with this lip shade for when I go to the bar/club. You can purchase this lip stick for $20.00 at any MAC cosmetics store.

The next lipstick that I have been using is called “Tokyo” by NYX. This soft matte lip cream is perfect for “night-outs” or even every day wear. What I love about NYX cosmetics is that this brand is extremely inexpensive compared to high name brands at Sephora or MAC. The quality of their products is really good as well, so I would highly recommend looking into NYX cosmetics. You can usually find NYX at any Walmart, Shoppers or even Target. This product is only $6.00, so why not give it a try!

This next lipstick is also one of my favourites because of how nourishing it feels on your lips.  This lipstick is in the shade “Rouge Pur Couture” by YSL. This is a glossy stain that tints your lips and stays on them for a long period of time, which is amazing. The only downfall I would have to say about this specific product is the price… it is expensive. You can purchase this at Sephora for $36.00. Yes I know… you’re probably thinking why the hell am I going to pay that much for a lip product?! Well I will let you know that it does last a long time, and it really does feel amazing on your lips. There are many different shades to choose from, I just find that Coral tones look best on my lips. This product is good for everyday wear, and I would highly recommend trying it out for yourself!

The next product that I have on my list is by Two Faced Cosmetics and it is the Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in the shade “Fig”. I have mentioned this product in previous blogs that I have written but I really do love the shade of this product. I am not a really big fan of dark lipsticks and I find they look really harsh on my lips. When I came across this shade I had to try it, and I found that it really doesn’t look too dark on me! You can purchase this at Sephora for $25.00  and it comes in a whole bunch  of different shades! It really does stay on your lips for pretty much most of the day which is amazing.

(As you can see this shade looks absolutely flawless! You have to try it out for yourself)

The next product that I am going to talk about is called Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick in the shade “101”. I have nothing against drug store products whatsoever, some of my makeup products I only purchase from the drugstore such as my foundation and mascara. I love love LOVE the Kate lipsticks that you can purchase at any Walmart. They retail for under $10.00 and are located in the Rimmel London section. I love this lipstick because you can wear it for every day use, and it is extremely cheap to purchase. This shade is a more pinky colour because I love how pinks look on my lips, but it is not too bold.

The next lipstick is again by Kate Moss lipsticks and is in the shade “113”. This is a beautiful nude colour that looks so subtle yet classy on your lips. Every girl needs a nude lipstick so why not go for a good quality one that is cheap? You can purchase this product at any Walmart for under $10.00 in the Riimmel London section. I would for sure try out some Kate Moss Lipsticks if you have not done so already, you will not be disappointed!

This lip product is called Lip Smacking Fun Colours by NYX cosmetics and it is in the shade “509”. I absolutely love NYX products because there makeup quality is unreal and it always is extremely cheap. Something about this colour called to me, so I just had to try it out! I really love the bright pink shade to it, and it’s perfect for going out to a bar/club later on in the night. I would not recommend wearing this for a day time look, but if you do want to look extremely bold then go for it! You can purchase this product at Shoppers, Target, or Walmart for around $8.00!

The next product that I am going to show you beauts is by Kate Moss  in the shade “110”. Off course every girl needs one red lipstick in their makeup collection. I purchased this lipstick last year (yes I still have it, so it does last a long time!), and I always use it for going out at night. I absolutely love the colour as their is a hint of orange to it, so it’s really unique and fun to wear! You can purchase this at Walmart in the Rimmel London section for under $10.00 and there are many shades to choose from. This is by far my all time favourite going out lipstick that is red. I find it so flawless and it stays on for the whole night too! You have to try this out for yourself!

The next lipstick that I am going to vent about is called Rouge Dior Lipstick in the shade “Nude” If you are a girl that likes to purchase more high end makeup then I would highly recommend trying out this product. I love nude lipsticks, and found that this one looks very subtle on your lips and goes great with any outfit. I also found that it feels very creamy and nourishing on your lips . You can purchase this product at Sephora for $42.00, and there are also many other different shades to choose from!

The next product that I have on my list are the two Nars Lipsticks. I recently got this from Sephora for free as part of my birthday gift from them. The first colour is called the Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in the shade “Cruella”. I really do love this pencil, it glides on so easily and also the colour is very pigmented. I would for sure wear this for a night out, and it makes you look extremely classy and elegant as well! The next colour is in the shade “Rikugien” and is a more neutral shade that is an every day wear. I love how nourishing these pencils feel while applying the lipstick, and they really do stay on your lips for a long period of time. The Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil retails at Sephora for $32.00, as well as the Satin Lip Pencil .

The next product that I am going to talk about looks similar to one that was already mentioned up above, but it is slightly different. This is another NYX cosmetics product and it is called NYX Extreme Lip Cream in the shade “Nude Peach Fuzz”. You can purchase this at any Walmart, Target or Shoppers for only $6.00 and there are many other different shades to choose from! I love this specific shade, and it provides extreme pigmentation with a glossy finish. It is extremely cheap to purchase so why not try it out for yourself!?

The last lip product that I have is called Colour Burst Lip Butter by Revlon in the shade “Creamsicle”. This is the first time I have tried out this specific product and over all I found it to be wonderful on my lips. I really do love this shade as it is extremely unique but you can wear it for every day use. I found this at Walmart in the Revlon section for under $10.00. It is extremely nourishing on your lips, and makes them extremely glossy, I also find the packaging to be really cute as well! There are many different shades and colours to choose from.

IMG_1054       I always found that actually seeing lipstick on somebody’s lips always helped me to determine which lipstick I was going to purchase. Some lipsticks look better just in the package than actually on your lips! This is why I chose to put each one on and display the product for you, so you have a better grip on how each one looks.  I also provided swatches of each individual lipstick so that you can get a better view for yourself of each shade beside one another,.

One product that I am going to mention which I use before i apply any lipstick products is the LUSH lip scrub which I found helps so much. You know when your lips get all dry and make your lipstick look absolutely awful? Purchase this product and scrub it on your lips before your lipstick. This helps take away all the dead skin cells, and makes your lipstick look flawless on your lips. I purchased the flavour “popcorn” which I do love, but you can purchase many other flavours for only $10.00 and they do last you a long time!

Thank you for taking the time to read this lipstick blog! I hope this has helped some of you when you go to purchase your next lipstick haul. Please feel free to comment below if you have any questions, or let me know which lipsticks you purchased for yourself!

My “night out” smokey eye tutorial

My “night out” smokey eye tutorial

Ever since I can remember I have been absolutely obsessed with makeup. Although I wasn’t allowed to wear hardly any in elementary school, I began experimenting with makeup in highschool, progressing into university. For the longest time I never did anything too complex with my makeup because I was never really taught by anyone how to apply it. That’s when I started to watch makeup tutorials online on a daily basis (because I wanted to and enjoyed it), and self-taught myself on how  to achieve different makeup looks and techniques. One look that I absolutely love doing when I am going out to a bar/club later is my brown smokey eye look. I absolutely love any eye shadows that have brown pigment to them. I find that this colour compliments well with my eyes and skin tone. For smokey eye looks, feel free to incorporate any colour you wish that best compliments yourself whether it be pink , brown, blue or black. I have seen a lot of different makeup tutorials on these certain colours, and they all look absolutely stunning! For this makeup look I am just going to stick with different shades of brown! Let’s get started!

First, I already applied my primer, foundation and powder to my face before working on my eyes. This is just a preference , so feel free to do whatever makeup step you wish to do first. When focusing on the eyes, I always prime my eyes with an eye shadow primer before my eye shadow. This step helps to ensure that your eye shadow stays on throughout the day/night , and helps your eye shadow “pop”. I am using my favourite primer “Kat Von D- High Voltage” which I purchased from Sephora, and putting this all over my eye lids.

Now that I have applied this product all over my eyes, before applying the eye shadow on top,  I grab some tape that I have lying around , and place a piece on the outside corner of my eyes.  Place it on an angle right where your lashes end and drag it towards the end of your eyebrow. This technique always helps me out when I am about to do a smokey eye look. It helps create a more defined application for your eye shadow, and helps the process stay “clean”. I also find that the tape helps me later on when I am applying a winged eye liner.  Once you have placed the tape in it’s location, you can start applying your eye shadow. I love to always apply my Stila eye shadow palette called “Artful eye collector’s edition”,  that I purchased at Sephora (I believe it was limited edition),and use the shade “Starlight” first. After applying this shade all over my lids, I then apply the shade “Oasis” over top of the previous shade, creating a nice shimmery beige colour.  I apply this eye shadow with my “Still” makeup brush that I have purchased from Walmart (nothing fancy).

After applying these two shades over my eyes, I then move onto my lovely Naked 2 palette. Let me just start of by saying how much I adore this Palette, as the colours are so pigmented and beautiful! I would highly recommend purchasing this palette from Sephora if you love the more neutral brown colours.

I first take the shade “Tease”, and place this all throughout my crease. This helps create depth, and helps prepare for the more darker brown we are going to use on the outer corners of your eyes. This is more a “transition” colour.

After applying this colour in the crease of my eye lids, I am now going to use the brush that came with my Naked 2 Palette (again nothing special), and applying  a darker shade of brown to the outer corners of my eyes. This is going to slowly create the “smokey” effect.

IMG_0715     I simply take the more dense side of the brush (not the fluffy side), and dab in small amounts the shade “Busted” to the outside of my eyes. Again the tape is going to help ensure that you are not getting the eye shadow in places you don’t want it to get.  Once you have applied this darker shade to the outside corners of your eyes , use the other side of the brush for blending.  You want to make sure that the darker shade is blended in nicely with the first two beige shades we applied earlier. It is going to look something similar to this:

After applying  this darker shade on the outside corners of your eyes and blending it in, you are now going to take the shade “Bootycall” and place it on the inner corners and  front section of your eyelids. This helps to differentiate between the light and the dark colours , creating the transitioning effect.

Once this has been applied to the inner corners and section of your eye lids , you are going to grab the shade “Suspect” and place this in the middle section of your eye. I absolutely love this shade , and just think it goes really well when incorporated into this smokey eye look.

After applying all of these different shades of brown to your eye lids, you can now move onto the winged eyeliner. This I find is always a struggle for me since I have not completely mastered this technique. Do not worry if your winged look is not perfect, usually one eye always looks better than the other! Keep in mind that you can use the tape as a guideline when finishing the wing. This always helps me when trying to finish this technique. I always use my L’oreal Paris Carbon Black liquid liner to apply my wing. Once you are done applying the eyeliner feel free to remove the tape from each side!

As you can see my liner is not absolutely perfect and that’s okay because your fake lashes are going to hide it a bit! I then move onto putting on my mascara and grabbing my fake lashes which I purchased from the dollar store (secret- the dollar store has Elf eye lashes there, which are a super good quality of fake lashes!). I recently purchased eyelash adhesive from Sephora because I always found that the adhesive that comes with the lashes never keeps my eyelashes on. I am so far loving this adhesive which is in the dark tone shade. I prefer this over the normal “white tone” that it usually comes in as it blends way more nicely, and you do not have to worry about it drying white. This product can be purchased at Sephora for under $15.00.

When applying fake lashes, I simply apply a fine line of the adhesive and use a pair of tweezers to help hold the lash in place. I hate using my fingers at first, as they always tend to get in the way. After I have placed my lashes in the location where I want them, I then use my fingers to help hold it in place as I wait for them to dry. You have to be patient with this step as it does take a bit for the lashes to fully dry and stay in place. Once they have dried, you are going to look something like this:

I then went ahead and started finishing the rest of my makeup routine such as: contouring and highlighting, adding a baked highlighting powder to highlight my face, extending my liquid eye liner so that it meets the corner of my eye, and adding some blush.I also added a nude lip colour to keep the main focus on my eyes. I find that extending your liquid liner helps create a more dramatic effect! You do not have to do this step if you wish not to.

And Voila! You are all ready for your night out! I absolutely love this look and think it’s perfect for going out to a bar or a club later on at night! You can create a lot of different looks with the Naked 2 Palette, which I highly recommend purchasing. It is around $60.00 (yes I know …..yikes!?) but I found that it was completely worth it!

Thank you for reading my beauts! Have a wonderful week and please feel free to follow! If you have any questions relating to this tutorial or other looks you would like to see please comment below!

Much love xo.

The 10 easy steps of contouring and highlighting

The 10 easy steps of contouring and highlighting

Do you ever just sit there in your makeup chair at your cute makeup table and think to yourself “I wish I had nicer cheekbones”, or ” I want that glowly look that celebs have”? I used to think about this kind of stuff all the time when I started to care more about my appearance. I used to always wonder how celebs got their face makeup to look so flawless on their face. Why can’t my face look like that? First, you need to realize what the power of makeup can do to your face. You don’t need to go get plastic surgery to make your cheekbones stand out, or your nose look better. All you simply need is your favourite bronzer of your choice, and your favourite highlighter. I am going to teach you the ten simple steps I take in order to properly highlight and contour my face. I am not at all saying this is the only technique on how to highlight and contour, but this is what I do on a daily basis and it has worked best for me. Let’s get started!

First, make sure that your face is washed and clean. Then apply a moisturizer that works well with your skin type.  I had already applied my primer, foundation and powder to my face before contouring and highlighting , so feel free to do so before you start this process. Now that your face is ready to start highlighting and contouring, pick out your favourite highlighter and bronzer and place them to the side. I usually always contour my face first, as this is just the routine that I am used to. It does not really matter what process you wish to complete first.

  1. I always like to start off my contouring process with my cheekbones first. Contouring your face simply means you want certain parts of your face to stand out. Having your cheekbones “pop” or stand out gives off the appearance that you have great bone structure within your face.  Starting off, I take my favourite bronzer that I use on a daily basis called, “Two Faced- Chocolate Soleil/ medium deep matte brozer”and one of my Sedona makeup brushes, and simply draw a straight line on either side of my cheeks. You want to ensure that the line is right where your cheekbones are and trace it to the top of your ear.

2.   You do not need to worry about your lines being perfect or too dark, as you are later going to blend them out. The next step of the contouring process is to now contour your forehead. Simply outline the top of your forehead with your bronzer to the top of your hairline. This helps to bring out the shape of your face as you are later going to highlight the middle of your forehead.

3. Once you have contoured your cheekbones and your forehead, you are now going to move onto contouring your chin. This is the same idea as your forehead in that you are outlining the shape of your face. This helps make your jawline stand out and add depth to the structure of your face.

4. Now that you have finished contouring your cheekbones, forehead and chin, you can start to blend out the harsh lines. I grabbed a more fluffy brush from my Sedona brushes and started gently blending the bronzer to create a more subtle and natural appearance. After blending my cheekbones out, I move onto the other parts of my face that need to be blended ensuring that all the harsh lines look more natural.

5. Now that you have blended together all the harsh dark contour lines, I usually move onto contouring my nose to finish off this process before moving onto highlighting.  I grab one of my smaller Sedona makeup brushes to help outline the bridge of my nose. This helps to make your nose appear thinner and give off the appearance that you got a nose job!

6. After outlining the bridge of your nose with your bronzer, you are going to take your finger and gently blend the lines out. I prefer to use my finger instead of a brush because I can be more precise with how much I would like blended in until my desired look.

7. Now that you are officially done the process of contouring, you can now move onto the highlighting. I usually like to start by applying my MAC pro long wear concealer in the shade NW20, all underneath my eyes. I simply just use my finger to apply this product and swipe down instead of dotting it,

8. Now  you are going to take your beauty blender (make sure that it is wet), and gently dab the product until it is all blended in nicely. Make sure to take your time when doing this step as underneath you eyes are extremely sensitive and you do not want to create any wrinkles.

9. Once your concealer is all blended underneath your eyes, you can now start to highlight the rest of your face such as the bridge of your nose, forehead and underneath your cheekbones. When highlighting these parts I like to use my other concealer called, “Coverstick concealer” by Maybelline in the shade Ivory, and draw a line down the center of my nose. I then like to draw little lines going up from my forehead which can be seen in the picture below. Afterwards I apply a line on each side of my cheek underneath my cheekbones. You are going to look pretty funny as of right now, but don’t worry! You are then going to grab your beauty blender and blend in the concealer.

10.  Voila! You now know my process of how I personally contour and highlight my face each day! I first started doing this when I was in my second year of University because I literally thought there was no point to this process. I now can not go a day without completing these two processes and I notice quite the difference in my face once it is contoured and highlighted.

Thank you for reading my beauts! If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask! I hope this has helped some of you out.

Much Love xo.

My Everyday Makeup Routine for a “Neutral Look”

My Everyday Makeup Routine for a “Neutral Look”

It’s hard to specifically develop a “permanent daily makeup routine”, believe me. Over the years I have tried numerous makeup routines ranging from “sparkly shadows”, to “darker eyeshadow tones”, to even “hardly any makeup”, but I have finally found my current every day makeup routine that includes my favourite makeup products! When I am doing my makeup everyday, I try to aim for a more neutral routine, as I love incorporating browns in my shadows. So if you are looking for a nice neutral makeup routine that is suitable for days at work, lounging around, going out, or just an everyday look then please keep reading!

  1. Firstly, you need to make sure you have a a nice clean face before applying any makeup whatsoever. This is then followed by moisturizing your face, and making sure there is no dry skin to affect the application of your makeup. After you are done doing this step, you need to apply a primer all over your face. This helps to ensure that your pores are covered, and there are no visible ones showing. When I first started using makeup, I never had used a primer before applying the rest of my makeup. I never really knew that there was an important purpose for this step until I started youtubing beauty video, and every beauty youtuber had used some sort of a primer. I then bought my first primer from Sephora in the Benefit section called “The Pore Fessional”. This is a product that helps to minimize the appearance of pores, and it is a translucent silky liquid. You only need a dime size amount of this product and apply it all over your face. I personally love this primer, and would repurchase it again and again. I have noticed a big difference after using a primer before applying my foundation. The primer has made my face look almost “photoshopped”, and has kept my makeup on throughout the whole day without coming off.

    2) After you are done applying a primer to your face, you need to apply a liquid foundation. I am not going to lie, I have gone through a lot of liquid foundations, and have tried many different brands. As of right now, I am currently using a drugstore product from Rimmel London called, “Lasting Finish with comfort serum”.  This product is a skin perfecting full coverage foundation in the shade “100 Ivory”, as I am not pale, but I am not super tanned. You can purchase this product at Walmart or even Shopper Drug Mart (personally when it come to drugstore products, shop at Walmart as they are way cheaper than Shopppers).  This product is available in 7 different shades, and retails for $8.98 at Walmart.  This foundation lasts up to 25 hours and is sweat and humidity proof. I really do like this foundation a lot, and even in the summer it does not feel too heavy on my face. I apply this foundation all over my face with a Beauty Blender. This is one of my holy grail products as I just recently started using this for over a year now. You can purchase Beauty Blenders at Sephora, as they retail for $26.00 for an original beauty blender. Yes I know. Why the heck would you pay almost $30.00 for a sponge?! Honest to god, after trying this for the first time as opposed to using my fingers or a foundation brush, my foundation has never looked better. It makes my makeup look flawless and sit beautifully on my face. You need to make sure that you are using the Beauty Blender correctly. Beauty Blenders should be distributed under cold water and squished a few times before application usage.  In order to achieve the best foundation application you need to use a wet beauty blender as this expands the sponge to hold a lot of the product.IMG_3469

3) For the third step  after you have applied your foundation, you need to set it with a setting powder.  This helps to ensure that your foundation stays on all day, and dries up all the “sticky residu”.  I love MAC Cosmetics, and will continue to use a majority of their makeup products for my makeup routines. For my setting powder, I am really loving the MAC “mineralize skin finish powder” in the shade Medium. It is always best to ask one of the cosmetic specialists working at the store to help you match your skin tone, making sure you are not going too dark or too light. This  powder can be used on it’s own without foundation and still provide a nice coverage which I love. This powder retails for $37.00 in stores, but has lasted me a long time. I would highly recommend purchasing this powder.

4) After applying a powder all over your face to set your foundation, I usually move on to the contouring and highlighting of the cheekbones.  I have a few products when it comes the different bronzers that I use when contouring my cheeks, nose and forehead.  This is a very important step if you want to have more of a defined face structure.  I do not go a day without highlighting and contouring my face, as it bring out all of my different features. I have two different bronzers to choose from when completing this step. The first bronzer that I am going to share with you is from Sephora and it’s called “NARS Laguna Bronzer”. This is one of my favourite products to use, and it has lasted me a long time. This shade brings out a very “natural” look to your face, beautifully defining your face structure. This product retails for $48.00 at Sephora. It is not too dark and not too light for my skintone, that is why I am in love with it so much. The other bronzing powder that I like to use is from Sephora as well and it is called “TwoFaced Chocolate Soleil” in medium/deep. Not only does this product have a nice pigment to it, but it also smells just like chocolate! How cool is that?! I just want to eat it.  This product retails for $38.00 at Sephora and I would highly recommend using this bronzer powder.

5) When it comes to highlighting of the face, I have tried many different highlighters from many different brands of makeup. I have heard a lot of good reviews on this specific highlighter that I decided to purchase from Walmart called, “Maybelline Instant Age Rewind- Eraser for Dark Spots”, in the shade light. I had purchased the “treatment corrector” which helps to erase and minimize the appearance of dark spots under your eyes. This product does not feel heavy on your face, and has covered my dark spots flawlessly. I can now see what the huge hype was about! I use this highlighter under my eyes, on the bridge of my nose and on my forehead. I then take my Beauty Blender to evenly blend out my highlighter. This product can be purchased at Walmart for $6.29.

6) After contouring and highlighting your face, I now move onto my favourtite part of my makeup routine… the eyes! First, you need to make sure you prime your eyes with an eyeshadow primer. When I first started wearing makeup I had never used an eyeshadow primer because I personally really didn’t see the point in it, and had no interest . But my beauty bloggers, trust me.. this is a very VERY important step in your makeup application process. After trying an eyeshadow for the first time, my eyeshadow has stayed on my eye lids all day, and has not came off. Also, my eyeshadow has more pigment when it is applied to an eyeshadow primer as opposed to applying it on it’s own. I wish that I knew how useful this product would be earlier on, then only finding it recently because it is one of my holy grail’s for sure! The eyeshadow primer that I have been using is called, “Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion”, and it retails at Sephora for $24.00.  This product has honestly improved the appearance of my eyeshadow, and I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase this product again.

7) After applying a potion all over your eyes, you can now choose what eyeshadow you would like to use. After purchasing the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette at Sephora, I have fell in love with it ever since. I absolutely love all the shades that this palette has to offer. This palette offers a bunch of shades ranging from beiges to browns, to dark browns, and lastly black.  I found that a majority of these shades you can use for “everyday makeup shadows”, which is what I love about this palette. The only downfall I would have to say is just how expensive this palette is at Sephora. It retails for $64.00, but I can honestly say that it is worth every penny, and you would not be disappointed. The current shades that I am loving is “Tease, half-baked, Suspect..” what can I say, I love them all!

8) Next, after applying your eyeshadow I like to apply a liquid black liner to the top of my eye lids. I find that this step helps to bring out my eyes more as opposed to leaving them looking bare. I am currently loving this liquid liner that I started trying called, “Loreal Paris-Carbon black liquid liner”. What I love about this product is how it was designed, as you can manage a good, sturdy grip when applying this product. This product retails at Walmart for $7.59, and has a felt tip.

9) After applying your liquid eyeliner to the top of your lids, and waiting for it to dry, you can now move onto your mascara! I have tried a lot of different mascaras over the years ranging from drug store products to high end products and I have currently found my favourite mascara by far. When looking for mascaras, I go for the more “clumpy and lengthening” mascara which adds a lot of volume to my lashes. Some may say I go a little overboard when it comes to the mascara but this is what I have found works best for myself. I am in love with the “Loreal Paris-Telescopic carbon black” mascara. Ever since using this mascara I have received numerous compliments throughout the week on how good my lashes look! This product retails at Walmart for $5.99 or a bit higher, but I would completely recommend this mascara as it is my absolute facourite and has not let me down!

IMG_347510) When you are finished applying your mascara and letting it dry you can now move onto filling in your eyebrows if needed. Over the years I have overplucked my eyebrows so many times to the point where they now have spaces in them, which is sad. So I have resulted into looking for products to fill in my eyebrows and create a more “fuller brow”. One of my absolute favourite and only eyebrow products that I use is called, “Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade” in the shade Taupe. I have always had trouble keeping my brows to stay on all day without smudging and coming off. My friend recommended this product to me and I fell in love ever since. After applying it to my brows it has stayed on all day, and you only need very minimal of this product everyday which is nice. This product is a little expensive for such a small container but like I said, you do not need a lot. You can purchase this product at Sephora for $23.00 and it comes in many different shades.

11) Lastly, I apply a nice shimmery highlighting powder to my cheekbones, bridge of my nose, and my forehead. This helps to define your face more when it catches in the light. For this step I use “Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder” from Sephora in the shade Dim Light. This product retails for $52.00 at Sephora but I would highly recommend purchasing this powder. It sits beautifully on your face and looks flawless.
