Back to school makeup tutorial ( neutral)

Back to school makeup tutorial ( neutral)

It’s that time of the year again beauts ! Some people are dreading it, others enjoy it and some people look forward to it. Yes… I am talking about back to school. Personally, I am not looking forward to it but hey … if that means close to being done school then that’s what I am looking forward to! I mean… who doesn’t want to be done college right ?! I am currently in college for social service work and really am enjoying it. I just finished a placement over the summer and have another placement in October that I am going to be given so I am looking forward to that! How about you guys ?! You excited school is tomorrow or what ?! Don’t sound too excited now … easy there. I thought I would share with you guys what I usually wear makeup wise to school, I don’t go crazy but I make sure I look decent for school all the time. I always like to wear easy makeup to school because let’s face it … who likes getting up extra early to get ready for school in the morning? Not me. I would rather be sleeping personally.  So I came up with this look for you guys, it’s super easy pretty much consists of two shades within the Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette! Shall we get started ?!

First I make sure I start off with a fresh clean face! Nobody likes a dirty face. I then start to apply all my face projects such as foundation, powder, you get the picture.

I then am going to quickly fill in my brows for you guys off camera and quickly contour and highlight my face.

After this is done, I will grab my primer for my eye lids and prime those bad boys up for my eye shadow! I am going to go in with the shade “Primavera”, and apply this shimmery cream shade all over my entire lid, ensuring that I get the inner corners.

I then am going in with a shade from my Kat Von D Shade Light Eye Palette, the light brown shade. I am using the light brown shade that’s the first on the left-hand side of the palette. I am using a fluffy brush and apply this to the crease of my lids.

After applying these two shades I am quickly lining the top of my lids with a black liquid eye Liner, grabbing some of my favourite mascara and applying this to my lashes. I then am grabbing a light pink lipstick to add a pop of colour to my lips and voila !

Lets fix that hair !

“… I could stop buying makeup but I’m not a quitter ”

I hope you beauts enjoyed this really easy and simple neutral makeup tutorial. Let me know if you guys try it out! Be sure to follow my other social media sites located on my home page for upcoming blogs in the near future!

Subtle Brown Eye with Bold Lips

Subtle Brown Eye with Bold Lips

image3 (1)

Hey my beauts, I hope your week is going good so far! Okay okay, so I know what you guys are probably all thinking…. “lyss…. this is a beauty related blog channel too… what happened to all the makeup tutorials?”. I guess lately, I have been so into doing more inspiring and giving life advice on my channel, I pushed makeup to the back burner and I apologize for that! Do I still love makeup? Absolutely. Am I still going to upload more blogs in relation to makeup and tutorials? Hells yes my friends, hells yes. So I was going through my Instagram pictures today, just browsing through them cause I am a conceited bitch like that… just kidding.. not really. I came across some nights out recently where I really did like my makeup look that certain night. I decided to recreate those looks for you guys in case any of yous were interested! I wrote today’s look on a more subtle makeup tutorial that is super easy to recreate. Enjoy!

Wash that face hunny

  1. First things first, make sure that face of yours is clean and ready for some makeup application! After cleaning my face, I go in with my primer by Benefit Cosmetics called “the Porefessional” and apply this all over my face. This helps ensure that my makeup stays on throughout the entire event that I am getting ready for! Sadly my face has been hating me lately and has been breaking out like crazy! It’s so sad. But do not worry if you are going through the same thing, we have a heavy duty foundation routine that we are going to do!

image2 (8)

image2 (10)

2. Next, you are going to cover up those pimps and blemishes with a good concealer. I literally always use a random one all the time, I never actually use the same one so I can not really recommend a really good concealer for you beauts. I then go in with my heavy duty foundation called, “Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation“, and apply this all over my face. This foundation is literally life. I always and I mean always use this when I go out for the night . This is super full coverage and makes your skin look flawless. The only downfall I would have to say about it would be that it feels rather heavy on your face, but you get used to it after a little bit.

image1 (19)

3. I then apply my “Mac Studio Fix” powder all over my face, to help set my foundation.

image3 (3)

4 After applying my powder, I then like to go in and contour my cheek bones, nose, forehead and jawline. I love using my “Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Palette” in the shade Light to Medium and go in with the bottom bronzers.I take the first one and apply it to my cheekbones and jawline.

image2 (13)

I then take the second lighter brown shade and apply this to the bridge of my nose.

image1 (32)

Lastly, I take the warmer brown shade and apply this to the temples of my forehead and along the top of my forehead.

image4 (5)

5. I then of course, like to highlight my face after I am done contouring. Right now I am using my “Instant Age Rewind Eraser” in the shade “ligh”t and apply this underneath my eyes, along the bridge of my nose, the middle of my forehead, and underneath my cheek bones.

image3 (4)

6. After I am finished contouring and highlighting, I then am ready to get onto the fun part…. the eyes! I take my favourite eyelid primer, “the Kat Von D High Voltage Primer” and apply this all over my lids. I then am going to use my Naked Palette and go in with the shade “Virgin” and apply this all over my entire lid.  Literally love this palette, I do not care if it’s rather on the old side, it is still one of my favourites by far.

image3 (10)

I then go in with the shade “naked” and apply this within the crease. This is such a beautiful transition colour and is not harsh whatsoever. If we are going to incorporate a bold lip, we want to make sure that we not doing an overly dramatic eye look for it. We are going to keep the eyes as simple as possible, yet they ae still going to look flawless with this look.

image2 (12)

7. After the shadow has been applied, I am then going to go in with my black liquid eyeliner and apply this on top of my lids. I currently do not have a favourite liner at the moment, as I was not too pleased with the one I used in this look. If you beauts have any favourite liners be sure to let me know, I am open to trying new things!

image1 (28)

8. I am then going to go in with my mascara. Right now I have been using my Benefit Cosmetics, “They’re Real” mascara and I absolutely love it. Not only does it compliment my long lashes but it also curls them up without an eyelash curler.

image4

image2 (10)

9. Next, I like to throw a darker shade eyeshadow on my lower lash line. I find this helps pull the look altogether and makes the eyes really pop. I am taking the shade “Buck” from the Naked Palette and applying this underneath the lower lash line acting as an eyeliner.

image1 (31)

10. I of course, need to add some blush to this makeup look. I love my Nars blush in the shade “Deep Throat” and apply this to the apples of my cheeks. I think this is such a subtle shade and looks absolutely gorgeous with any look.

image2 (11)

10. I can not forget my favourite part! The highlighter. I absolutely absolutely love my highlighter called, “Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder” in the shade 01 and apply this to the bridge of my nose, the middle of my forehead, my cheek bones and a bit above my upper lip. I have been using this highlighter for years now and it is deff going to be hard to break our relationship up!

image3 (5)

11. Now it’s onto the fun part….. them lips! I decided to use my Nars “Velvet Matte Lip Pencil” in the shade “Crimsen Red”. I honestly really love this shade, it comes off as an inbetween red/pink colour which is so beautiful.

image1 (18)

Voila! Look at how flawless this look is! I absolutely love it and the best part is you can wear it for a day and night time look. You can also add in some fake lashes if you are feeling spontaneous which I was!

Spring daytime to nighttime look 2016!

Spring daytime to nighttime look 2016!

IMG_3088

Hello my beauties, I hope you are all doing so well! I know I know… I literally have been MIA! Where the hell have I been might you ask? I have been super super busy with school work and my exams as well. I probably will not be blogging for a little bit after this because I am headed away to Mexico, but I will for sure upload a blog about my trip! I have been nonstop writing papers out of my bum and can finally say ” I do not have to write another essay ever again”.. thank god for that! I have also been busy with my new apartment and rearranging everything in there so there’s that. I will for sure be uploading an apartment tour later on when I am finish decorating and what not since I pretty much just started! Hmmmm what else is new? OH! I cut my hair, yes I did. I was sitting infront of my tv one day watching 90210 when I just thought how bored I was of my hair and how I really wanted a change pronto. So me being my spontaneous self I decided to chop off my own hair…. and well…. it actually turned out really well, I was impressed with my hidden talent!  Enough about my personal life and more about my blogging life! So I decided that I have not really done a makeup tutorial in a really long time and thought I might as well upload one for a change ! Since Spring is here I wanted to show you guys my everyday Spring makeup look that I have been really loving lately! I also wanted to show you guys how to achieve a nighttime look from this daytime look as well, without having to remove any of your previous makeup. Without further or do let’s get started!

IMG_3235

First, you want to make sure you are starting off with a freshly clean face. I have been currently using “Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser” everytime I wake up and I use it before I go to bed as well. I have been liking this cleanser so far, but it is one where it does not feel like all your makeup is fully off of your face, so I often have to go in with another cleanser in order to feel “clean”. You then want to go in with your moisturizer before applying any of your makeup.

IMG_3237

I next like to go in with my face primer and have been loving my “Benefit Hangover Face Primer”, which I have used in previous blogs before. I find this primer is very moisturizing and smells amazing which is a huge bonus! You can purchase this at Sephora for $40.00 which is pretty expensive but I really do think it is worth it.

IMG_3239

I apply my foundation all over my face with my lovely beauty blender. I rave about this thing all the time but I literally swear on it and have not gone back to a face brush since I started using it.

IMG_3238

The foundation that I have been using daily for quite some years now is the “Revlon Colourstay in Buff” Foundation. I find that this foundation stays on my face all day and overall has an amazing full coverage.

IMG_3243

It all depends on your personal preference what products you like to apply first on your face but when it comes down to my makeup routine, I always apply my whole face leaving the highlighting and contouring til after my eye makeup is complete. When I let my foundation dry for a few minutes, I like to go in and set it with my MAC Studio Fix powder which is my ultimate favourite. I have been using this product for two years now and it is my go-to for sure.

IMG_3244

IMG_3245

I apply the powder all over my face with one of my big fluffy brushes. I make sure that I have applied this everywhere where I placed the foundation on my face.

IMG_3250

As you can see I have used this product numerous times and I will not be stopping anytime soon! I love to use the “Kat Von D High Voltage Eye Primer” on my eyelids to ensure my eyeshadow stays in place all day long. I highly highly recommend trying this product out for yourself. I love how yellow the pigment is when you apply it to your lids, and it makes your eye shadow appear flawless. You can purchase this at Sephora for $20.00.

IMG_3247

I then like to go in and start filling out my eyebrows. I always use my “Anastasia Dip Brow” when filling in the spaces within my brows, and this product literally stays on all day with no smudging or coming off. I highly recommend trying this out for yourself and making sure you have an angled brush to go with it. You can purchase it at Sephora for $23.00.

IMG_3240

I have recently started using this palette that I purchased a while ago from Sephora, it is called ” Smashbox Full Exposure”. When I first purchased it, I was not in love with it and really did not know what looks to create with some of the colours. I found that  it was not really pigmented, but I recently started using it again with my Kat Von D Primer. I am extremely happy with the results when I use it on top of this, and have created so many wonderful looks with it! There is a bigger size palette out there of this product, but I purchased the travel size to test and try it out. You can purchase it at Sephora for $28.00.

IMG_3333

IMG_3150

I first like to take a blending brush and apply this peachy colour within the palette into the crease of my lids. I find this creates a nice and gentle look, and I really think this is appropriate for the spring time as well.

IMG_3152

Once that is applied within the crease, I then like to go in with my Colour Tattoo Metal by Eye Studio in the shade “Barely Branded” and apply this all over my lid avoiding the crease where I applied the peach colour. This creates a nice metallic colour and allows the next shadow that I am going to be applying to appear “flawless” and “pigmented”. I just apply this product using my finger.

IMG_3321

IMG_3154

IMG_3156

I then take my next eyeshadow colour from within my palette which is a “white” colour and apply this all over the cream eyeshadow that I just applied.

IMG_3334

IMG_3158IMG_3161

Now it is time to highlight and contour! I love to use my Nars Laguna Bronzer when it comes to day time looks as it is extremely gentle and looks more natural. I apply this to my cheekbones, my jaw line, my forehead as well as the bridge of my nose. You can purchase this at Sephora for $52.00, but I highly recommend it. This product has lasted me forever and I am still not done yet!

IMG_3327

IMG_3338

I then like to go in with my highlighter and apply this to certain areas of my face such as my forehead, under my eyes and the bridge of my nose. I absolutely love using my  MAC Prolong Wear Concealer which I purchased for $26.00.

IMG_3167

(Looking Fab!)

Next, I apply my liquid eye liner to the tops of my lids in order to help my eyes stand out more. I apply my gel liner that I purchased from Walmart by Maybelline called “Eye Studio Gel liner” and apply a thin layer on top of my eyes. I also added a wing to it as well. Based on your personal preference,  you can make the wing as big & thick as you like it to be, personally I like mine more within the middle range. Some days I skip the wing process, and other days I add it in.  I apply this with a liner brush that I purchased at Sephora which makes it super easy to apply the product. What also helps me to achieve a straight wing is by using a credit card or a straight edge. You can also use tape as well which makes it really easy!

IMG_3329

IMG_3162

IMG_3164

After applying my liner and creating a wing I am happy with, I apply my mascara primer before applying my actual mascara. I absolutely love my Dior Maximizing Plumping Serum which I purchased at Sephora for $43.00. This product enhances my lashes allowing them to look plumper and fuller before I apply my mascara. I then let this product dry for a few minutes before applying my favourite mascara “L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara”to my lashes.

IMG_3328

Next, I apply some finishing touches to my face such as my blush which is called “Orgasm by Nars” and apply this to the apples of my cheeks.

IMG_3322

I then go and apply my highlighter called “Laura Mercer Highlighter” to my forehead, bridge of my nose and the top of my cheek bones.

IMG_3325

After applying my highlighter, I then move onto my lips. I first take my beauty blender which has excess foundation on it still and dab this over my lips. This helps create a nude look and it blocks out the natural pigment of your lips for the lipstick. I apply my “Dior” Nude lipstick all over my lips keeping this look more natural as it is my everytime day time look.

IMG_3323

IMG_3089
(Voila!, A very natural &neutral day time look! I sometimes incorporate a wing and some days I don’t)

NIGHTTIME LOOK

Don’t you hate it when you are going out at night and have to redo all of your makeup so it looks more dramatic? Now you don’t! I have created a nighttime makeup routine going off of your previous day time look we just have created. Pull out that palette again and let’s get started!

IMG_3335

You are now going to use this dark brown shade and apply this with a small eye shadow brush to your crease. This is going to create a super pretty shade on top of the peach colour that you already have. You can bring this colour into the outside corner of your lids as well, creating more of a smokey effect.

IMG_3336

You are then going to take this grey shimmery shade and apply this to the outside corner of your lids. This will help darken the colour and create more of a dramatic look.

IMG_3289

Next, when it comes to a  night out of course you need some false lashes! I am using my favourite Elf lashes and applying them with my DUO glue that I purchased from Sephora for $12.00 in the darker shade. After applying my lashes I then take my favourite MAC lipstick in the shade “Snob” and apply this over the nude shade previously on my lips.

IMG_3326

And Voila, you are now ready for the night out! I absolutely love this nighttime look and it is super easy to achieve as well! It is way easier than having to take off all of your makeup and start from scratch.

IMG_3310

I hope you guys enjoyed this Spring day time to nighttime makeup tutorial using the SmashBox Full Exposure Palette. I highly recommend purchasing this palette for yourself and trying out these beautiful colours!

My “night out” smokey eye tutorial

My “night out” smokey eye tutorial

IMG_0747

Ever since I can remember I have been absolutely obsessed with makeup. Although I wasn’t allowed to wear hardly any in elementary school, I began experimenting with makeup in highschool, progressing into university. For the longest time I never did anything too complex with my makeup because I was never really taught by anyone how to apply it. That’s when I started to watch makeup tutorials online on a daily basis (because I wanted to and enjoyed it), and self-taught myself on how  to achieve different makeup looks and techniques. One look that I absolutely love doing when I am going out to a bar/club later is my brown smokey eye look. I absolutely love any eye shadows that have brown pigment to them. I find that this colour compliments well with my eyes and skin tone. For smokey eye looks, feel free to incorporate any colour you wish that best compliments yourself whether it be pink , brown, blue or black. I have seen a lot of different makeup tutorials on these certain colours, and they all look absolutely stunning! For this makeup look I am just going to stick with different shades of brown! Let’s get started!

First, I already applied my primer, foundation and powder to my face before working on my eyes. This is just a preference , so feel free to do whatever makeup step you wish to do first. When focusing on the eyes, I always prime my eyes with an eye shadow primer before my eye shadow. This step helps to ensure that your eye shadow stays on throughout the day/night , and helps your eye shadow “pop”. I am using my favourite primer “Kat Von D- High Voltage” which I purchased from Sephora, and putting this all over my eye lids.

IMG_0759

Now that I have applied this product all over my eyes, before applying the eye shadow on top,  I grab some tape that I have lying around , and place a piece on the outside corner of my eyes.  Place it on an angle right where your lashes end and drag it towards the end of your eyebrow. This technique always helps me out when I am about to do a smokey eye look. It helps create a more defined application for your eye shadow, and helps the process stay “clean”. I also find that the tape helps me later on when I am applying a winged eye liner.  Once you have placed the tape in it’s location, you can start applying your eye shadow. I love to always apply my Stila eye shadow palette called “Artful eye collector’s edition”,  that I purchased at Sephora (I believe it was limited edition),and use the shade “Starlight” first. After applying this shade all over my lids, I then apply the shade “Oasis” over top of the previous shade, creating a nice shimmery beige colour.  I apply this eye shadow with my “Still” makeup brush that I have purchased from Walmart (nothing fancy).

IMG_0735

IMG_0733

IMG_0734

After applying these two shades over my eyes, I then move onto my lovely Naked 2 palette. Let me just start of by saying how much I adore this Palette, as the colours are so pigmented and beautiful! I would highly recommend purchasing this palette from Sephora if you love the more neutral brown colours.

IMG_0708

I first take the shade “Tease”, and place this all throughout my crease. This helps create depth, and helps prepare for the more darker brown we are going to use on the outer corners of your eyes. This is more a “transition” colour.

IMG_0710

IMG_0732

After applying this colour in the crease of my eye lids, I am now going to use the brush that came with my Naked 2 Palette (again nothing special), and applying  a darker shade of brown to the outer corners of my eyes. This is going to slowly create the “smokey” effect.

IMG_0715     I simply take the more dense side of the brush (not the fluffy side), and dab in small amounts the shade “Busted” to the outside of my eyes. Again the tape is going to help ensure that you are not getting the eye shadow in places you don’t want it to get.  Once you have applied this darker shade to the outside corners of your eyes , use the other side of the brush for blending.  You want to make sure that the darker shade is blended in nicely with the first two beige shades we applied earlier. It is going to look something similar to this:

IMG_0757

IMG_0756

After applying  this darker shade on the outside corners of your eyes and blending it in, you are now going to take the shade “Bootycall” and place it on the inner corners and  front section of your eyelids. This helps to differentiate between the light and the dark colours , creating the transitioning effect.

IMG_0711

Once this has been applied to the inner corners and section of your eye lids , you are going to grab the shade “Suspect” and place this in the middle section of your eye. I absolutely love this shade , and just think it goes really well when incorporated into this smokey eye look.

IMG_0712

After applying all of these different shades of brown to your eye lids, you can now move onto the winged eyeliner. This I find is always a struggle for me since I have not completely mastered this technique. Do not worry if your winged look is not perfect, usually one eye always looks better than the other! Keep in mind that you can use the tape as a guideline when finishing the wing. This always helps me when trying to finish this technique. I always use my L’oreal Paris Carbon Black liquid liner to apply my wing. Once you are done applying the eyeliner feel free to remove the tape from each side!

IMG_0736

IMG_0755

IMG_0753

As you can see my liner is not absolutely perfect and that’s okay because your fake lashes are going to hide it a bit! I then move onto putting on my mascara and grabbing my fake lashes which I purchased from the dollar store (secret- the dollar store has Elf eye lashes there, which are a super good quality of fake lashes!). I recently purchased eyelash adhesive from Sephora because I always found that the adhesive that comes with the lashes never keeps my eyelashes on. I am so far loving this adhesive which is in the dark tone shade. I prefer this over the normal “white tone” that it usually comes in as it blends way more nicely, and you do not have to worry about it drying white. This product can be purchased at Sephora for under $15.00.

IMG_0737

When applying fake lashes, I simply apply a fine line of the adhesive and use a pair of tweezers to help hold the lash in place. I hate using my fingers at first, as they always tend to get in the way. After I have placed my lashes in the location where I want them, I then use my fingers to help hold it in place as I wait for them to dry. You have to be patient with this step as it does take a bit for the lashes to fully dry and stay in place. Once they have dried, you are going to look something like this:

IMG_0750

I then went ahead and started finishing the rest of my makeup routine such as: contouring and highlighting, adding a baked highlighting powder to highlight my face, extending my liquid eye liner so that it meets the corner of my eye, and adding some blush.I also added a nude lip colour to keep the main focus on my eyes. I find that extending your liquid liner helps create a more dramatic effect! You do not have to do this step if you wish not to.

IMG_0749

IMG_0743

And Voila! You are all ready for your night out! I absolutely love this look and think it’s perfect for going out to a bar or a club later on at night! You can create a lot of different looks with the Naked 2 Palette, which I highly recommend purchasing. It is around $60.00 (yes I know …..yikes!?) but I found that it was completely worth it!
