My Collaboration with “Bloom & Blossom”

Good morning beautiful souls, welcome to my channel if you are new! Or, welcome back if you are returning! So happy to have you back! So I know it hasn’t been the most easiest couple of weeks that’s for sure. Whether you are practicing social distancing, in self-isolation or even quarantined… it’s not fun or easy. I know this comes with a lot of brainstorming! If you are a momma, this calls for keeping your kiddos entertained all day, which I am not a parent myself but I will not judge you if that cup of coffee secretly has some baileys in it, just saying! I give you so much credit and together, we will get through this. I truly believe in the importance of empowering individuals during these crazy times and giving out a bit more extra love than usual. We are all in this together.

On my channel, whether it be on my blogging site or on my Instagram feed, I always try to keep everything more upbeat and positive. I have always been the more optimistic type, but trust me, I don’t shit rainbows and butterflies if that is what you think! I have my days but for the most part, I love providing unique, fresh, upbeat and positive content for you to view! During these tough times, I am going to be on my A game 110%! I am way way WAY beyond excited to share this wonderful collaboration that I was so honored to be apart of! So, without further or due, shall we jump right in?!

When it comes to Spring Time, I always love a couple of things. First, a pretty good spring outfit of course, second, some cute spring accessories. But, there is something missing if I do say so myself. Since I am always pretty much carrying around a drink with me at ALL times……. what if your drink could look hella fashionable!? Would you be down? I sure would be! That is why I can not wait to share this amazing company I was so fortunate to partner with for this collaboration! I partnered with this amazing company called, “Bloom & Blossom”! They provide a whole bunch of adorable and unique products on their website involving CUTE sayings! From ceramic mugs, crew neck sweaters, decals, tumblr mugs, you name it! When I say this company has the cutest sayings, I mean…….they are STINKING CUTE!

I absolutely love the name “Bloom & Blossom!” and I wanted to know how owner and creator, Kennedy Stanton, came up with it! Kennedy states, “It took me quite some time to find a name. I didn’t want something cheesy I wanted something light, pretty and different. It’s a good reminder for me that we have to bloom & blossom in life to be who we are meant to be. I believe we do this over multiple phases within our life, remember we aren’t meant to be stagnant”. I absolutely LOVE this and the backstory behind this name. I am always so curious behind company names and I find this meaning beautiful. I seriously could not agree more with Kennedy’s thoughts behind this, so true & accurate!

I was also very curious as to how Kennedy started her lovely business, and what the process was like creating it! I have never owned a business myself so this really fascinates me! Kennedy shares that her work started as a hobby as she never actually had the intention of making it a company. She states, “Oddly enough the first item I sold was funny egg cartons with sayings on them. They blew up for me locally and I couldn’t keep enough in stock. Then I moved into apparel and people were buying those from me. They kept saying I needed to do this as a business. So finally I started my social media approx 9 months ago, my website 2 months ago and then incorporated in January of this year”. That is absolutely unreal and I am so proud of you! Who knew it would’ve started from egg cartons! That is amazing. Kennedy is a prime example that if you set your mind to it, you can do anything, just have to stick to it and keep going! Her business is so creative, and the sayings on her products are hilarious, cute, sweet and classy!

I was beyond excited when Kennedy wanted to collaborate with me! She had gifted me this beautiful Custom Tumblr which I seriously can not get enough of! I had always wanted my slogan on a mug/cup and this turned out AMAZING! BEAUTS…. when I received this in the mail I was blown away at how perfect it turned out, she did a beautiful job! Did I mention the colour is breath taking too! I received mine in a “Rose Gold” shade, and there are hints of sparkles in it as well, so stunning! She has so many colours and designs to choose from which I love. Her tumblr cups are safe for hot and cold liquids, stainless steel, and are 20 oz. These retail in store for around $20.00 which is amazing considering the quality of the product and how much detail she puts in! I am seriously going to be carrying this around with me EVERYWHERE, move over boring water bottles, this new fella is coming in to STAY. Some of the amazing colours that she has includes, “Matte Rosewood, Matte Blush, Matte Sea Glass, Matte Black, Matte Midnight and also Silver (they are all absolutely flawless and so aesthetically pleasing!). My product also came with care instructions as well which is always great to have, so you know how to properly take care of it!

I don’t know about you beauts, but I swear I live for products with adorable sayings on them such as mugs and cups. Each morning, when I go and grab my coffee I always have to make sure it is in a cute mug….am I a little extra? I swear this puts me in a great mood, starts my day off right, and also just makes me feel dang good, anyone else!? It’s all about the little things in life.

“They say good things take time, that’s why I’m always late!”

I have to say I am beyond proud of Kennedy for opening up this business and owning this herself! She makes everything, packages everything up, and still works full-time! Can you say GIRLBOSS or what!? She’s amazing, and so inspiring as well! You can clearly see all the hard work she puts into her company that’s for sure! Of course you can’t forget about her fiance who is her biggest cheerleader! Love that so much!

I want to personally take the time to thank her for allowing me to collaborate with her and this beautiful company! She truly is going places and can not wait what the future holds in store for her! I had an amazing time conducting this blog post and showing you beauts just one of her gorgeous products! If you beauts wish to check out some of her amazing products you can reach her on Instagram at “@bloom.n.blossom.designs” and you can check out her website at :https://bloomblossomdesigns.com/. Be sure to show some love & support by giving her a follow!

Take care beautiful souls, stay healthy & keep washing those hands!

Hey there my beautiful souls! Welcome to my channel if you are new! If you are a returning soul then welcome back, I am so happy you are visiting again! I have been so busy recently, it’s been insane! I just came back from a 7-day cruise and it was to die for, an absolutely beautiful experience which was much needed. I am, however, slowly trying to get back into reality and back into my routine.
I just came back to Canada on Saturday, so I have been trying to organize my life again and get back into the grind. That being said, I am pleased to share with you beauts a super exciting collaboration that I have been working on and partnered up with this fall season. I could not be any happier to be part of this fall collaboration for such a unique company! The fact that I absolutely adore working and connecting with new companies is an understatement, but to work on a fall collaboration is super exciting in itself! I truly want to get back into the routine and grind of blogging again, and what better way to start it back off then doing a collaboration for you beauts!

About the Company

I reached out to this wonderful company called, β€œSouthern Jones”, and was super stoked when they had chosen me to be apart of their fall collaboration this year! This beautiful company specializes in uniquely designed mugs, which may I add…. are absolutely breathtaking. Β These stunning mugs are designed by Etsy store owner Cami Jones, who lives in Little Rock, Arkansas. Β She runs her small company in her laundry room at home, enjoying lake weekends, lazy nights at home and travel occasionally.

You can also suggest custom mug ideas that you may have on your mind as well! If you head on over to her Etsy shop, link located in her Instagram bio, simply fill out the custom order questionnaire and you are all set! Β If you are that basic fall girl, that one who adores plaid scarves, fall hats, oversized sweaters and pumpkin everything…you will absolutely ADORE her fall mug collection! I was head over heels excited to have the opportunity to show off one of her fall mugs to you beauts! May I remind you as well that the ink located on both sides of the mug are permanent, so no need to worry about your design accidentally coming off! Phew!
What I love about Cami’s Instagram page is that you get a β€œbehind the scenes” look at how she does her mug process which is super neat! Did I also mention that Cami has her own blogging channel too? I love it! I honestly love meeting other bloggers from around the world and reading their articles! I love waking up in the morning time, getting all ready, and going to grab a nice hot cup of pumpkin coffee in of course a pretty mug! Why not grab a snazzy fall mug while you’re at it and complete the whole fall vibe?! The one mug that I received is by far my favourite one out of her fall collection but trust me, there are some high top threes that’s for sure! All of her designs are so unique and super cute! The prices of her mugs range around $23.14 which is a great deal, especially the high quality of the cups and designs you receive! If you are looking for wedding mugs for a bridal party or simply want to grab a mug for your grandma or mom she has some for you! Are you a dog mom like myself and simply want to have your pooch on your mug? She has adorable dog mugs too that are on her Etsy shop! The mug that I received in the mail from Southern Jones’ fall collection for 2019 was the β€œSweater Weather” mug. This one stood out to me right away because the design was way too stinking cute! I thought the whole look was classy and I am for sure an oversized sweater type of gal when it comes to the fall season! Nothing like being cute & cosy all at the same time, am I right?!

“How The Rustic Feather Came to Be”, Sharing Rustic Home Decor & Furniture by Jennifer Hewitson

“How The Rustic Feather Came to Be”, Sharing Rustic Home Decor & Furniture by Jennifer Hewitson

img_6156-1

Hello my beauts and welcome to my channel if you are new! My names Alyssa , I am a beauty/ fashion/ lifestyle blogger and I am extremely passionate about what I do for my hobby. If you wish to know more about my blogging channel and hobby, I have done a previous blog post way back in the day that discusses how I got into blogging and what not. One of the most popular questions I get asked is ” Why do you interview or send people questionnaires and reach out to them”? Two reasons. One,  I love searching for people who inspire me and love to share their hard work on my channel. Two, I get to know my guests on a more personal level, learning and taking in new information that I did not know about before. I absolutely love what I  do, and love reaching out to people. I had the absolute pleasure and honor of working with someone who I have looked up to and admired over the past year, and her work is stunning. You can tell she puts so much dedication into her work and takes her time ensuring every order is perfect. I had reached out to the beautiful Jennifer Hewistson form, “The Rustic Feather” located in Simcoe Ontario, and she agreed to collaborate with me on this blog post, sharing her story behind her crafts and products. I was more than happy once she reached back out to me and happily responded with , “that would be absolutely amazing”. Even though I am a low key blogger, and some people have never heard of me before, that does not stop me from reaching out to beautiful souls like Jennifer and showing off her amazing talent to you beauts!

Jennifer is a wife and a mother of 3 beautiful children, two sons ages 20 and 5, and a daughter age 2.  She was a single mom for a lot of years who had struggled with trying to make ends meat. She spent some years working 2 or three jobs to support herself as well as her son at the time. Jennifer expresses, ” I was a welder for 8 years, until the company I worked for went out of business. I decided to take the opportunity and go back to school. I went to college for Policing. While in my final year of college, I found out I was pregnant with my second son. I have an extremely supportive husband and we decided that I would stay home and raise our children. Because I am a hands on person, and cannot sit still, I had to get back into the workforce. When our 2nd son turned 2, I applied for a job at a Pharmacy for a cosmetics manager position. There I excelled at customer service. I built lasting relationships with customers and maintained sales. I was in that position for just over a year when my husband and I found out I was pregnant with our daughter”.

While on Mat leave with her daughter Jennifer felt lost. She had moved to a beautiful farm and there were so many birds to look at. Jennifer states, “I asked my husband if he could teach me how to build a bird house so that I could watch the birds build a nest and have their own families. He taught me how to use the saws and other tools. It was awesome! I felt at home in the shop! So once I built one birdhouse, other people wanted bird houses. That’s how it all started. A bird house”.

I was really curious as to what inspires Jennifer when it comes to her crafts and products. Jennifer explains, “Honestly, I get inspired by the most random things. Most of the time, it’s from β€œproving a point” to my husband. He is always trying to burn my scrap wood or throw out my β€œjunk”. So I like to come up with creative ideas on how to use all my scraps or junk. Hence, why I started making my rustic feathers. He swore that no one would be interested in them, but little does he know, I have 62 orders for them…lol”. I find that hilarious and such a married thing to do, to “prove a point”, but hey Jennifer, you’re point was proven, you are one talented lady!

I think one question that lingers in our minds is how Jennifer learned to make her crafts. Personally, I am great at making stick figures, but that is about it! So tell me, Jennifer, how did you learn? Jennifer explains, “My husband taught me. He also has a brilliant creative mind. We feed off each other most times when it comes to designing. Although he’s a horrible teacher, I watched him. Learned his tricks and tried to do them myself. With a lot of practice, I’ve finally started to impress him!”. There you go! Practice makes perfect!

I know a lot of crafters can not live without certain craft essentials and I was super curious to know what Jennifer could not live without. Jen expressed the importance of her mitre saw, table saw and sander. Jennifer says, “When I first started doing this, I bought the cheapest tools possible. Then I learned very quickly you get what you pay for. I saved up my money and bought better tools. Better tools equal better products. So when it comes to quality, always spend the money!”. Great words of advice to follow for fellow crafters out there that’s for sure! I need all the help I could get if I were to start crafting, so better ask the expert here beauts!

“…I like the shabby chic look mixed with rustic of course”

How could you describe your style besides “Rustic”? “I love clean. Clean lines, clean dΓ©cor. I like the Shabby chic look mixed with rustic of course”.

I know a lot of people always look up to someone who maybe inspires them or people who we admire their work. I know as a beauty blogger I have my certain admirers that I look up to and follow on social media sites. I then asked Jennifer who she looked up to. Jennifer says, “I follow a few builders on Instagram like Mac N Wood and Queen B Home. I love them both”.  Going off of this question and the concept of being inspired, I also wanted to ask Jennifer where she creates her beautiful crafts and products. She emphasized “everywhere!”. “Well I used to do my work in the dining room, then I moved my son to college and took over his room….sorry Jake! My husband also had a man cave in the garage. Well now, the wall has been taken down and the shop is now in full production….sorry hunny!”. Looks like you are working hard everywhere Jennifer!

When do you feel the most creative? “In the mornings. I love to sit in my favourite chair in the morning and look over my day. What I need to get done, what I’d like to do, etc.”. I wish I could strive to be that morning person like you Jen but it is super hard for me not going to lie. I would absolutely love to be considered that morning person… I am going to have to take some tips and methods from Jen that’s for sure!

Do you work by yourself when making your crafts or do you receive help? “I use to do it all by myself, but now I have such an amazing group of people that help me. My husband, of course, does still help with the big builds. My good friend Amanda helps me with scheduling orders and keeps me on track. My mother in law comes and helps me with sanding and staining. And my friend Brittany will come over and help me with stenciling. Also if I need him, Cody who is my husband’s friend will help with building/framing.So yes, I am truly grateful for all these people. They know when I am stressed and they step up and help out whenever I need them”.

Jennifer goes onto explain that her job can be very stressful at times, but she does enjoy what she does. Jennifer emphasized that she is the type of person who hates saying, “No”, to people. Jennifer goes on to states, “but with this business and being in high demand, I tend to take on way too much. I stay up very late, sometimes until 2 or 3am and wake up at 6am. Being a home business everyone thinks it is sunshine and roses, well sometimes it’s more like a dark and overcast day. People constantly coming to your home for pick ups or to place orders. I do enjoy speaking to each and every one of my customers. I have established numerous friendships over the last 2 years because of my little business. I just wish that some people would understand that I am a Mother first. My children always come first. Just recently I closed my custom orders for Christmas because I did not want to be up late Christmas Eve working on orders. I need to spend more time with my littles”. I think that is super important you stated that Jennifer, it is crucial that we don’t forget who we are as individuals when we are caught up in our careers or hobbies.

I know everyone has been dying to know what Jennifer sells at “The Rustic Feather”, and I am dying to know more about the products myself! So please go ahead and share Jen!

“I mainly do custom work. Pinterest is so hot right now. So my customers usually send me pictures from there. I always say to my customers, yes I can make that but it will not be exact. Out of respect for the maker, I need to make it my own. I will not copy.”

I heard that you were selling some of your products are some stores in Port Dover called The Back Shed, and Ty-Kobee Tea &Coffee co, do these stores sell similar products to yours, and how did you make this decision? “Rhonda, owner of Ty-Kobee Tea & Coffee contacted me asking if I knew of any local artisans that would be interested in putting their products in their store. Because of the business, I am in and because I have held craft shows on my property, I have quite a large amount of connections with people in the business. With much thought and what she offered me, I decided to jump all over her offer. Their shop is in a prime location in Port Dover with a lot of foot traffic. So I decided it was time to step away from my normal β€œcustom work only” and branch out into more of creating items that showcase my talents. My items will be available for purchase in their store starting October 1st. Although Rhonda has already contacted me saying people are asking for my items!”  That’s amazing Jennifer, I am so proud of you and all your hard work. Everything is paying off for you and that makes me so happy to be. From a single mother who was struggling, to being known throughout different cities, you go girl!

For those beauts out there who are curious as to what her most famous product is, you guessed it! Her maps! Jennifer explains, “I posted a giveaway back in January for a map. That giveaway hit over 164 thousand people. Because of the HUGE response, I gave away 2! Since that giveaway, I received 97 orders to date for that map…..INSANE!! I am having a giveaway right now on my page, which is showing the same results”. That’s amazing Jennifer! I for sure entered the giveaway so fingers crossed! Jennifer’s work is absolutely stunning, so make sure you enter the giveaway before it ends! Be sure to check out her page on Facebook, “The Rustic Feather”, and follow the steps in order to be qualified!

I think one of the most intriguing and interesting questions that I had come up with was how did Jennifer come up with the name “The Rustic Feather”, and her story is just beautiful. Jennifer expresses, ” When I was a little girl, my father and I would always sit outside in the mornings and listen to the birds and drink our β€œcoffee”. My β€œcoffee” was a mug with milk. My father would sit and sing to the birds. Call the cardinals in. I too would try and call them, but I wasn’t as good as him. My father past away in my arms 4 years ago. It was such a huge loss to me, since he and I were inseparable. When my husband and I moved to the farm, I found myself always sitting outside in the mornings with my coffee (which was actually coffee now) and watching the birds. Singing the Cardinal song and bringing them in. When I started my little bird house business I knew the name had to have something to do with birds. So I came up with β€œThe Rustic Feather”. How interesting is this! I would have never guessed this story and I absolutely love the background information behind the name. Absolutely beautiful.

So by finishing up this blog, I wanted to ask a few remaining questions to Jennifer to sum up our collaboration!

Where do you see your work and β€œThe Rustic Feather”, 5 years from now? “As my husband would say β€œGLOBAL”!! Lol. I’m not entirely sure.I hope I’m still doing what I love 5 years from now”. I hope you are still doing what you love too Jennifer! Your business is blooming and you have over 7, 000 followers on Facebook which is amazing! You are going to be global in no time that’s for sure!

“The items you are creating for them are items that they will love and cherish, and hang in their homes for years to come”

Lastly, I love gathering some words of advice from people in their profession and words of wisdom they can pass on to others who are starting out in the industry. Jennifer states, “Honestly, take it slow. Take the time to listen to people. Do not think of them as dollar signs. The items you are creating for them are items that they will love and cherish, and hang in their homes for years to come. Take pride in your work. Never compromise quality. If it takes you a bit longer, people will wait”.

I just want to take the time to personally thank Jennifer, for sharing her personal and informative words of advice to us about her beautiful work from “The Rustic Feather”. You can honestly tell a lot about a person through their questionnaire, and I can honestly say Jennifer is a truly humble and kind soul to be around. Hoping to keep in touch in the future! Be sure to check out her Facebook at, “The Rustic Feather”, and check out her items that are present in the stores listed above in Port Dover. Also be sure to follow her Instagram page at “The Rustic Feather”, for beautiful posts that may spark your interest! Thank you so much for taking the time to read this blog post, I hope you learned a lot about the Rustic Feather! Be sure to follow my social media accounts located on my home page for more blogs to come in the near future! Take Care!

December/Cozy Christmas Decor 2016

December/Cozy Christmas Decor 2016

Processed with MOLDIVHello my beauts, I hope you all are having a not so shabby Monday! As you all are probably as excited as I am, Christmas is coming soon! I think this is probably the first Christmas where I am really really excited and actually stoked to listen to Christmas music. I remember past Christmases always changing the radio station everytime an annoying Christmas song came on…. oh the good old days. Now when the Trans Siberian Orchestra comes on I crank that shit right up and belt it out.. I mean come on… who wouldn’t? I think I am actually really excited about this Christmas because I finally have my own place that I can decorate and “cozy” it all up as opposed to my parent’s house. That being said, I decked out my apartment building in tons of Christmas decorations even though it has not quite reached December yet! Hey that is okay!  I absolutely love this cold weather and coming home to a cute & cozy house that is all decorated and beautiful! Here are a few of my home decor for December that I decided to share with you beauts! I hope you all enjoy these cute decor!

Candles

Okay okay okay…. candles are life. Nothing else needs to be said. I literally love candles and find them so relaxing no matter what season it is. If you do not have any candles in that home of yours, I highly recommend stopping at your local Bath and Body Works and stocking up on some holiday candles. Bath and Body Works always has amazing deals at this time of year, especially on their holiday scented candles. Walking into this store is literally like heaven for me. I never ever know which candles to purchase, cause all the scents are to die for. I picked up two candles on my last visit at Bath and Body Works. The first was in the scent “Maple Cinnamon Pancakes“…… GUYS. This scent is literally heaven in a container. I am in love with this one and will be purchasing another soon! I also grabbed another candle in the scent “ Hot Coco and Cream“…mmmmmmmmm. If you are a chocolate lover then this candle is deff for you! It literally smells like your sitting in a giant chocolate bar and I love every second of it.

bnbnbnbnhjhj

(How cute is the packaging on these candles though guys!!?)

Soaps

nnnbnbn4 words. That is all that really needs to be said… Bath and Body Works. If you have not stopped by and glanced in this store this holiday season… boy… are you missing out. First of all, I am one to never in my life spend some of my paycheck buying hand soaps.. I would rather buy pounds of makeup than soap haha. I finally decided to change up my ways when I saw the Christmas collection out. I personally love the more foamier soaps that lather in your hands. All of these scents are to die for. I literally look forward to washing my hands every day as sad as that sounds! I think I bought 10 for $35.00 or something along those lines! I also decided to splurge and buy this cute hand soap decoration to place my soaps in. How cute is this reindeer decor? I absolutely love all the sparkles and thought this looked super cute in my bathroom to help spread the Christmas spirit.

bbb-2

(Literally only $10.00…. don’t mind if I do!)

Socks

Who doesn’t love those big, long comfy socks? Especially if you are lounging around all day or even if you are going out, they always look super cute with holiday outfits. I purchased my holiday socks at Boathouse. I believe it was 3 or $20.00 and you could choose from different pairs.  There are so many different stores that sell these super comfy socks, and I highly recommend purchasing some pairs for this holiday season! I always love showing mine off with my black tights or even my pj shorts on those lazy days.

Living Room Decor

First of all… let’s just start off by thanking god for a grandmother who loves to make Christmas crafts and decorations. Every year I always look forward to the numerous amounts of crafts that my grandma makes and creates, she is so talented! I always purchase something from her craft show ! This year my grandma surprised me with this beautiful center piece that she had made, and I placed it on display within my living room on my coffee table. I have it turned on right now as I am typing away and honestly it is so relaxing and beautiful! I love putting things on display on my coffee table, as everyone sees it as soon as they walk in. Holiday center pieces really are so gorgeous when it comes to decorating your house and getting into the Christmas spirit. If you are not lucky enough to know someone who makes them, you can always shop at Michaels (more on the pricier side) or any other craft store for beautiful holiday pieces. This is also a gorgeous decoration when guests are coming over for coffee or tea.

bbnbnbn

dhbdhfhdThe dollar store is also going to be your best friend when it comes to dolling up your house with holiday decorations… the best part is…. nobody has to know it came from the dollar store! I purchased beautiful sets of fake poinsettias from there, as real ones are poisonous to pets. I grabbed a few different colours such as the traditional red ones, gold and even white ones and placed them all around my house in vases. You literally can not go wrong with fake flowers… I mean… you don’t have to take care of them or water them… you are golden. I also find that fake flowers look so classy when they are all set up on display as well.

Also while browsing around at the dollar store, I came across these gorgeous sparkly decor balls and knew exactly what I could use them for. I have seen on Pinterest these decor techniques but always found these balls to be so expensive! Finally I got my hands on some at the dollar store and they look so stunning in my display! I found an old wicker basket at the thrift store a while back and decided to place these balls as well as a few pine cones within the basket. I now have this on display within my bedroom and I must say… these look so so stunning and cozy!

dhfdhfhd

Another thing that I love about having my own front door is that I can hang my own wreath up! I am so corny I know, but you guys do not know how excited I am about this! I am so blessed that I got to purchase this hand made wreath from my grandma! I literally think it is so gorgeous, and it gets me so excited after a long day at work to come home and open the door to my cozy house. I fell in love with the cute Gingerman within the wreath and knew I had to get my hands on it right away. Again you can find wreaths at your nearest craft store, but they are honestly a must for home owners! They help pull the house altogether for the season.

hhhhghgygygy

Now… you can not forget about that beautiful Christmas tree! Being in an apartment building, we are not allowed to purchase a real Christmas tree for our current home so we had to go with the fake tree this year which is completely fine! We purchased ours from Canadian Tire for around $100 I believe. There was no way in hell we were spending hundreds on a tree.. just no way.  We also bought our ornaments at Canadian Tire as well and decided to go with the gold and silver theme. I absolutely love the package of balls that we had purchased, there was a mixture of matte coloured balls, shimmery ones, big and also little ones. I love the whole mixture of them put together, I feel as though this brought the tree together perfectly. We also placed several ornaments my grandmother had made for us on there too, which are so cute! Just to give you guys a sneak peak at some of her decorations take a look at this little guy…. how cute is he?!

dhdh

( I can not deal with this load of cuteness….)

sdhsghdghsThis is our first Christmas tree that my boyfriend and I purchased together and it’s honestly a proud moment for us! When I get home from work right away I plug in my tree and get into some cozy clothes. Our tree makes our home so cozy! They are so fun to decorate too. You can even Pinterest different tree decorating ideas as there are literally a shit ton to choose from. I personally have always loved the gold theme and thought the silver would tie in beautifully with it as well. I love the variety of sparkly decorations to matte. I think this adds so much character and definition to the tree!  We were lucky enough that our lights actually came attached to our tree, and we didn’t have to unwind any! This was honestly a boat load of stress off our backs and was so easy to work with which was fantastic! Also the assembling of the tree was super easy to work with as well. The tree came in 3 different parts, that is it! No 100 pieces which was awesome. I also decided to place one of my other Christmas trees in my makeup room. This one I also received from my grandma a couple years ago. I absolutely love this wooden tree, I think it looks so cozy and classy. I would highly recommend decorating rooms you most likely spend most of your time in. When doing my makeup in the morning for work, I get amped just looking at my tree and right away get into the Christmas spirit.

One last home Christmas decor that I have for you guys actually was not supposed to be a Christmas decoration but when looking at it, it literally reminds me of Christmas. I got this made for me, but you can find this same craft on Pinterest (god bless)! It is extremely easy to make if you have the patience! This is also a super cute holiday gift idea for those of you who are still looking to buy that special someone something! The date on mine represents my boyfriend and my anniversary but you can write any date of importance to you. I also love the finishing touches of the birds as well as the word “love“. I think this decor is super cute and is also appropriate for showing off on your holiday Christmas display!

As you can see, there are so many different ideas and decorations that you can use to help spread the Christmas spirit throughout your home. There is nothing better than sitting down after a long day at work, jumping in your jammies, making yourself a nice hot cup of tea and lighting your candles as you are sitting beside your Christmas tree. Embrace the holidays and Christmas spirit!  Be kind to one another and really be thankful for your family and friends this holiday season. Christmas is a time for giving and truly appreciating one another. I hope you beauts enjoyed this December decor/ cozy Chrismas decor blog for today. New room decor for 2016!

New room decor for 2016!

IMG_1830

Hello my beauts! I hope each and every single one of yous had an amazing time off on your holidays, or made some extra cash working. I apologize that I have been MIA recently, I have been extremely busy going to family events or visiting friends over the holidays, so I have not had any time to blog! Don’t worry though, that does not mean I have not been busy thinking of different blog ideas and topics to write about! I would just like to take the time to thank you to those of you who follow my page, it really does mean a lot and I hope it progresses! For this blog post, I was inspired to write about some new room decor designs and things that I have purchased to display. It can be hard at times to decorate your room, especially if you live in a student house. Personally, I find it extremely difficult to only bring a few things from home to my student house, I just take my whole god damn room. All my friends know this, and I know this… but hey, that’s okay! The only downfall is that it is hard for me to make my room presentable with all my stuff and not look so cluttered.

I recently have become super bored with the attire and decorations that were in my room in my previous blog posts from earlier on, and thought… why not change it up? I mean sure I can rearrange my room a million times, but I personally want to buy new decorations. I have been looking on Pinterest over the past few months, gathering new ideas on different organization techniques and DIYS that I can make. I came across some really cute room decor that I made and purchased, so I thought I would share them with you! My first point that I would like to address is that I am on a tight budget, I am a student so I would rather spend as less as possible to make my room pretty. So, on that note, I found numerous decor that was super extremely cheap and easy to make! One of my all-time favourite decor stores is Home Sense. Even though I have only been in that store probably twice, I still consider it absolutely amazing. If you have not visited this store, I highly recommend it. When you go into the store, it’s literally like walking into paradise. There are so much cute furniture and decorations to look at, it’s insane. I purchased a few things from Home Sense that were all under $20.00.

Organizers/Holders–  The first item that I purchased at Home Sense was one of the most expensive out of this blog. It was priced at $17.00 but I feel that it is completely worth every penny! I don’t know what it is about me lately but I have been absolutely loving the vintage and gold look. I think it looks super classy and elegant. Once I saw this in the store I knew that it would look so beautiful on my desk! I love the gold and antique finish to it, as well as the amount of storage that it can hold up to. In my jar, I have placed all my morning necessities that I need but did not want to display at my makeup desk.

Can we all just take a second to look at how cute and beautiful that crystal is for the lid? Look how much storage this little bin can fit!

Okay enough of me rambling on about this item but you get the picture. It is so elegant and classy!

The next item that I have for you guys is an item that I made myself and it is a very easy DIY to do. I purchased all my items from Value vVllage and all you basically need are three things; a plate/platform, a candlestick holder and some glue. So I was wandering around value village thinking I was going to find nothing because let’s face it…. I hardly ever purchase anything from there! I was looking in the furniture section and came across this wonderful idea. I saw this gold metal plate that was only $2.99 and a candlestick holder that was around $4.00. I wanted to create a platform to hold some of my beauty supplies on my desk and came across this idea on Pinterest. Once you purchased your two items, you can grab a heavy duty glue at your local dollar store and voila!  Simply glue the two items together! Now you have your own personal display stand that looks elegant and expensive but was only under $10.00!

I loved the idea of the cute bow tied around the bottom as it came along with the candlestick. Feel free to add any personal touches to your display stand! I decided to use mine to display some of my favourite perfume that I recently purchased from Victoria’s Secret. I added some plastic jewels that I purchased from my local dollar store around the perfume just to add a glamorous touch!

Fancy Alternative Decorations– These two items that I would like to show you guys I had purchased from two different stores. I have always wanted an “A” letter , because… who doesn’t want their own first letter of their name obviously in case anyone forgets it. I finally found one that looked super classy at Home Sense, and it was only $6.00 which is completely affordable! I also found this super cute box at Walmart which was $20.00 but was worth it to go with my “A”. There were choices of different colours for the box, but I thought white looked best for my room.

As you can see I store all my extra packages of eyelashes in the box! If you have not done so already, I highly recommend purchasing Elf Eyelashes, and you can grab them at your local dollar store, how crazy is that!? Why go to Sephora and spend $30.00 on a pair of eyelashes when you can get just as good ones at the dollar store?!

I placed my two makeup brush holders on top of the box and beside it to add some more glam to the look. How cute is that?!

Makeup brush holder– I recently just purchased this big gold cup at Home Sense for only $6.00 and it holds a majority of my brushes. I love the colour and how it matches my gold theme, as well as how big it is.

As you can see, everything blends nicely together as long as you keep a solid “go to”  colour throughout your entire look.

Jewellery Holder– I saw this idea on Pinterest and have been literally searching everywhere for a “cake or cupcake stand”. These work wonders to display any jewelry that you may own and want to keep in a safe place. I found this beautiful one at Value Village believe it or not, the last place I look, and it was only $3.00! Be sure to be open minded when searching for decor for your room, you never know where you may find beautiful things.

I simply keep this ontop of my desk, and place all my jewelry in and around the two circles!

Pillows–  I have been searching everywhere for nice decorative pillows to place on my bed. Everywhere that I look they are super expensive and not worth the $40.00 for a dinky small pillow. Again, I was browsing in Value Village and came across these two adorable pillows that looked amazing together. I absolutely love the design and colour of them both. And guess what?! I didn’t even have to pay forty, instead they were under $5.00 each. Someone else’s’ trash could be someone’s treasure!
